Two new unfinished sculptures June 2015

Posted: June 29th, 2015 by Liadaan.

I’m currently working on these two sculptures, however I have had to wrap them in plastic to keep them damp as I have been called away to work on a painting for an exhibition for UNICEF, the children of Nepal [earthquake] which will be held in Italy.  Back to these when the painting is finished.  They are ‘Alice and the doormouse’ and ‘The cave of the wild dog’.  They are terracotta and yet to have the oxides and underglazes applied

gardenI’m back home working in my studio.  Winter is always a nice time to work in the studio.  I have many sketches and lot’s of inspiration to work with.  Also a good time to let go of things and move on.  I decided to let these two unfinished terracotta heads go back to the earth in the rain!  Yes, actual rain in Maldon.

.BACK TO THE EARTH - Terracotta - I decided not to finish these two heads so they are going back to the earth in the garden. They are going the way of all things.

18th July ’15 – One of the heads has completely disintegrated now.  We have had more rain and the coldest winter for years.

GEORGIA OKEEFE HOME

I have recently returned from America where I did an intensive ceramic sculpture workshop with Debra Fritts.   I learnt a lot and I am now home in my studio trying to remember it all and put it into practice.   I met some amazing people.  New Mexico is wonderful.  Abiquiu and Santa Fe will always remain in my heart along with my new friends.  I also visited New York and did an 8 hour tour.  Here is a photo of the Plaza Blanca [The White Place] as Georgia O’Keeffe called it.  I visited the artists home which was most interesting.  PLAZA BLANCA 2015
